Queensland’s 50% renewable energy plan: More work required

We regard Queensland’s 50% renewable target by 2030 as potentially by far the largest driver of new renewable energy supply in Australia over the next 20 years. Queensland is the only State where electricity demand is presently growing, it is Australia’s second largest source of electricity demand the current renewable supply is tiny relative to the target. Only NSW has the potential to match Queensland and for now the NSW Govt is more preoccupied with public transport.
Rooftop solar installs hit highest monthly level since July, 2015

Australia’s national solar PV market appears to be slowly rebounding, with rooftop solar installs in September 2016 reaching 66MW for the month, their highest level since July 2015, led by growth in the commercial market and particularly in South Australia.

Energy experts are still scratching their heads about what they could have done to prevent the massive, state-wide blackout that occurred in the midst of a one-in-50-years storm last month. The answer may lay inside South Australian homes. Or at least, it should do. And it’s battery storage.
