EnergyAustralia has become the latest big energy retailer to sign a power purchase agreement for a large solar farm, committing to a 13-year off take agreement for the 142MW Ross River solar farm in Queensland, in what is the largest deal of its type to date in Australia.

Some commentators seem to be worried that our electricity networks are facing an impending voltage crisis, citing fears that renewables (rooftop solar panels in particular) will threaten the quality of our power supply.

A multinational team working out of the University at Buffalo’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences have developed a prototype solar water purifier capable of producing drinkable water from contaminated or salty liquids at 2.4 times the rate of leading commercial products.
