GCL System Integration Technology (GCL-SI) has appointed Jeffrey Barnett as President of GCL-SI Americas. With over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, he will lead GCL-SI’s solar module and balance of system business in the Americas.

There is renewed hope that Australia’s first large scale solar towers with storage can be built in South Australia after the government announced a new tender designed to introduce new competition in the market and remove the stranglehold of the existing gas generators.

Two years ago, NSW solar installer Geoff Bragg had a vision. “Imagine a system where one customer could sell energy to another customer, via the Distribution Network Service Provider, who ‘clips the ticket’ for transferring the energy,” he wrote in an article published on RenewEconomy in March 2014.

All eyes are on the Pullman Hotel in Sydney, where on Thursday, 12 out of the 20 large-scale solar projects shortlisted for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s $100 million funding round are expected to be announced as winners of federal government grants.
