Chinese group BYD will provide solar panels with a production capacity of 180 megawatts to Brazilian company Solatio Gestão de Projectos Solares, of Spanish group ACS, Actividades de Construcción y Servicios, according to a contract signed on Wednesday.
The solar panels purchased by Solatio Solar Project Management will be placed in the solar power plant to be built in the municipality of Guaimbê, in the State of São Paulo, and will make it possible to supply electricity 60,000 homes.
The BYD group, which has a plant in Campinas (São Paulo) for the production of solar panels, said the order will be delivered by the end of 2017.
BYD Brasil chairman Tyler Li is quoted in the statement as saying that the company is consolidating the country’s solar energy production market, as Brazil is one of the countries with the highest potential for solar energy.
The electricity to be produced at the Guiambê plant was purchased by the Brazilian government in an auction held in 2014. (macauhub)
