Hitting climate change for six!

One Stop Warehouse, Australia’s largest Solar Distributor, along with LONGi and Sungrow have partnered with Cricket for Climate and Australia’s leading cricketers Pat Cummins and Rachael Haynes to donate and install solar systems at 15 cricket clubs across Australia. The new initiative, called ‘Solar Clubs,’ marks the first step in driving tangible sustainable change throughout the sport, saving the clubs money while reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.
Australian Cricket Captain, Pat Cummins said the new ‘Solar Clubs’ initiative is good for the environment and local cricket clubs alike, as the money they save on electricity bills can be reinvested back into resources and player development.

“Climate scientists have warned that cricket will be among the sports hardest hit by global warming, and as players we’ve already experienced the impacts, like worsening extreme heat and having matches affected by or cancelled due to bushfire smoke. This is why we need to see urgent action to reduce emissions, the Solar Clubs initiative does this while also having an added economic benefit,” Cummins said.
Starting with Pat Cummin’s local club Penrith Cricket Club, the first phase of the initiative is powered by renewable energy leaders One Stop Warehouse, LONGi and Sungrow and will include 15 solar systems 15 system which will generate more than 200,000 kWh electricity per year, to foster a greener future for homegrown cricket talent. The Installations will take place at 15 grassroots cricket clubs over the next six months with plans to then expand the initiative around the country.

“Like all Australian athletes, we try our hardest to punch above our weight on the world stage. And with the incredible natural resources we have to hand we want to do that on climate too. Few countries in the world can match Australia’s extraordinary potential to generate renewable energy like solar and wind power - we think this is a win-win situation for our game and for the environment,” added Cummins.
